Hello.

When my tracker reaches about 800 TCP connections it seems as if some kind of TCP buffer fills up and the server can not establish new connections in or out.

In the log i see entries like these: (for any program that needs a tcp connection)

postfix/smtp[12291]: warning: smtp_connect_addr: socket: No buffer space available
proftpd[935]: xxx - socket() failed in connection initialization: No buffer space available

This causes the server not to be able to serve new HTTP requests and the tracker is down :(

Any suggestions? I'm all out of ideas!

edit: Running Debian Linux 2.4.20

Thanks

I get permission denied everytime i try to alter anything from /proc/sys/net.

Also the same if i put the entries in /etc/sysctl.conf and run sysctl -p

Could this be because the host system is a VPS?
